About Kristen
My philosophy on journalism is simple: tell interesting stories I wanted to read growing up. In the landscape we’re in now, it’s more important than ever to magnify and turn up the volume on communities that are often silenced or considered an afterthought. My experiences as a journalist continue to mold how I report and are always overlaid by my roots. I grew up in the South —Georgia to be exact — so I know a thing or two about how to share my passion for Southern cuisine while putting the spotlight on the people who really know it best. Or letting those who are affected by discrimination in the housing market tell it like it is. Regardless of what my stories are about, a common thread remains: by the last sentence, you’ll be as fired up as I am to call for change. Or, at least discover a new recipe to try tonight and a kitchen tool to cook it with.
